Coos County has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for options related to the county nursing home in West Stewartstown, four months after receiving $23 million in federal Rural Health Transformation funding.

The RFP comes as county officials continue evaluating whether to renovate the existing facility or pursue a new construction project. The $23 million award was announced earlier this year, but concrete plans have yet to emerge.

The Coos County Nursing Hospital, located in West Stewartstown, serves elderly residents from across the North Country. The funding is intended to help modernize or replace the aging facility.

NEK will be looking into the specifics of the RFP, including the timeline for proposals and whether the county risks losing the federal funding if a plan is not finalized soon.
