New Hampshire is moving forward with replacing the Cannon Mountain aerial tramway, which made its final run Sunday after 45 years of service. The third-generation tramway is now out of commission, with work expected to keep it closed until at least December 2028.
Gov. Chris Sununu and the Executive Council on Wednesday approved funding for the project as part of a broader North Country spending package covering healthcare, housing, and infrastructure. The replacement bid has been released.
The second-generation cars docked at the base Sunday, marking the end of their operational life. The state has been planning the upgrade for several years.
