Cabot's annual Fourth of July parade drew thousands of spectators on July 4, with floats, tractors, and community groups lining Main Street. The parade, a longstanding tradition, featured prize winners sponsored by local businesses.
First prize of $1,500 went to David Magnan's float "Washington Crossing the Delaware," a boat-themed entry sponsored by Dunham Brothers Painting, Ben Ackerman Excavation, and other local businesses. The Cabot School float took second place and $1,000, sponsored by Cabot Community Association, Casella, and the Wiswell Foundation. Third place and $500 went to the Marshfield Monarchs 4-H Club's entry "Kidding Around, Goats!" sponsored by Green Mountain Lodge #68.
Other entries included a brace of Minutemen carrying colors, Rural Vermont Rising (formed in response to Act 181), Glover's Bread and Puppet Theatre with political commentary, the Bothfeld farm's antique tractor, and a "Democracy on Display" float. The Hardwick Gazette also participated, handing out candy and pens. Woodbury Fire and Rescue displayed an airboat.
