At approximately 12:06 AM, emergency responders were dispatched to Leighton Hill Road for a reported vehicle on fire that had spread to the backyard and a nearby shed. Crews arriving on scene found the bulk of the fire knocked down, with three vehicles involved - two jeeps and a motor home - and a shed that did not catch fire. Mutual aid was requested from Newbury Fire Department for a tanker, and by 12:37 AM tanker operations were underway. Wells River K-1 reported both the vehicle and shed fires knocked down. At 12:20 AM, Newbury K-4 arrived on scene and requested additional water. At 12:56 AM, Wells River Command was at the 60-minute mark. A Newbury tanker was on scene as of 12:59 AM. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries have been reported. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
