At approximately 10:07 PM, emergency dispatchers received multiple reports of extremely loud, booming sounds in the Barton and Orleans area. Callers described the noise as louder than commercial fireworks, with some residents speculating it could be a cannon being fired. No source was immediately visible in the sky. At 10:19 PM, additional callers reported that their horses were in a state of absolute panic, running around. The sounds were described as spaced out, one by one. Residents on Tarbox Hill reported their horses panicking. Police are investigating the source of the noise. Further details are pending.
