At 1:47 a.m., Newport Police and EMS were dispatched to the report of an unconscious male not breathing on Walker Avenue. First responders arrived to find a male in his 50s and began life-saving measures. Despite the efforts, the patient could not be revived. A Newport Police officer on scene confirmed the death, and the medical examiner was requested to respond to what has been classified as an unattended death. The incident remains under investigation.
