At approximately 7:52 p.m. on Thursday, Newport Police, Fire, and EMS were dispatched to the area of the Tavern on the Hill at 1724 East Main Street for a report of a two-car motor vehicle crash with airbag deployment. The call indicated unknown injuries or hazards and noted that the scene is near the Walmart store. First responders from Newport Police, Newport City Fire, and Newport Ambulance are on scene assessing the situation. At 3:56 p.m., fire officials requested Northeast Ambulance to respond to the scene to assist. Further details are expected as the incident develops.
