At 10:38 PM, Vermont State Police and mental health services were coordinating a response to a mental health call in East St. Johnsbury. According to dispatch, mental health personnel are attempting to contact the parents via phone. If that is unsuccessful, officers will respond directly to the residence.

By 11:24 PM, dispatch reported that a person was in a basement attempting to get out, and responders were working to safely bring them out. The situation remains ongoing.

At approximately 11:25 PM, responders reported having eyes on a person in the basement and were working to bring them out. By 11:30 PM, officers requested a shield and placed a rescue team on standby. The situation remains active.
