GROTON, A new community center known as the Groton HUB has opened its doors, funded by a $2.85 million U.S. Department of Agriculture Community Connect grant awarded to NEK Broadband. The center is already hosting local assistance and education programs, according to a July 14 announcement.

The grant, announced earlier this year, aimed to expand broadband access and create a physical space for community services. The HUB now serves as a hub for digital literacy, job training, and other resources for residents.

NEK Broadband officials said the facility has seen steady use since opening, with classes and one-on-one support available. Specific program details were not released.

NEK will be looking into what specific programs are offered and how the center is being utilized in its first months.
