At approximately 12:25 PM on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, the St. Johnsbury Fire Department was dispatched to a fire alarm at 257 Western Avenue, the St. Johnsbury Town School. Units arrived on scene shortly after and reported nothing showing from the exterior. Firefighters conducted an investigation and determined the alarm was caused by dust from construction work on the building. At 12:35 PM, command confirmed the cause and at 12:44 PM, Engine 1 cleared the scene and returned to service. Further details are limited.
