At approximately 8:52 PM, Vermont State Police received a report of a white Nissan with license plate King Zulu Zulu 696 driving erratically on Main Street in Derby. Witnesses reported the vehicle was swerving all over the roadway. The male driver parked on the side of the road, got out, appeared to be in some sort of distress, then got back in the vehicle and continued driving. Officers are searching for the vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities.
At 8:53 PM, dispatchers confirmed the vehicle was seen turning east onto Route 111. A complainant was following the vehicle and reported continued swerving. The complainant was unsure if the driver was experiencing a medical emergency or was intoxicated. An officer was en route to make contact at the intersection.
At 9:02 PM, an officer located the white Nissan on Route 111 and initiated a traffic stop. The officer reported that the driver was not stopping and suspected a medical emergency. At 9:03 PM, the officer requested that local EMS be notified, stating the driver appeared to be in distress. At approximately 9:06 PM, the officer reported stopping and requested EMS respond to his location near a function barn in Derby Center. The driver's condition and identity have not yet been confirmed. Further updates will be provided as information becomes available.
