The Danville Selectboard announced on June 18 that the town has received a $444,955 grant for building a parking lot. Chair Janice Oulette said she and Town Clerk Michelle Leclerc are working out details to move the project forward.
After a report from the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation, the board voted to stop accepting dimensional lumber at the wood dump. Town Administrator Keith Gadapee said painted and treated wood has frequently been mixed into loads of scrap lumber and is difficult to detect, and that DEC representatives pointed out examples during a recent inspection.
The board reviewed two proposals for installing a culvert on Cary Pond Road: $13,910 from Mathews Excavating and $19,700 from Kirk Fenoff and Son Excavating. The project was awarded to Mathews Excavating at the lower price.
The board authorized Gadapee to apply for a road equipment grant through the Vermont Agency of Transportation and Vermont Local Roads. If awarded, the highway department plans to use the funds toward a road blower to clear leaves and debris before grading.
The board also approved updated wastewater hook-up and allocation applications after revising rate language, and authorized the animal control officer to enforce town dog regulations and issue citations in response to an ongoing dog-related issue reported by the Town Clerk's office.
Finally, the board voted to allow the Planning Commission to apply for a free technical assistance program through Local Motion to help update zoning bylaws related to trail activity and connections between the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail and the town.
