At approximately 9:38 PM, Sheffield Wheelock Fire and Lyndon Rescue were dispatched to 2753 Berry Hill Road in Sheffield for a possible vehicle versus tree. According to initial reports, a caller who is a resident of the address stated she saw a car sliding sideways on the road, then saw the headlights go sideways. She then lost power and believes the vehicle struck a tree. Emergency responders were en route.
At 9:58 PM, responders arrived on scene and reported a large tree on power lines, preventing the fire truck from reaching the vehicle. A firefighter proceeded on foot to locate the car. At 10:00 PM, the caller advised dispatchers that she witnessed the vehicle leave the scene. Shortly after, at 10:01 PM, responders confirmed no vehicle was found in the area. Lyndon Rescue was cleared and returned to service. A traffic block remained in place as Squad 25 continued to verify the vicinity.
At 10:17 PM, a unit reported checking to the town line with nothing found, then cleared and returned to service, concluding the search.
