Two projects that could bring noticeable changes to Barton were presented to the select board on July 1 by Zoning Administrator Sarah Bailey, according to a report from the Barton Chronicle. With board chair Jeff Cota absent, members Dee McDowell and Ted Gattino reviewed the proposals.
Gattino described a propane distribution facility planned for May Farm Road, near the town garage. He said he visited the site with Bailey, Orleans Fire Chief E.J. Rowell, Orleans Village Administrator John Morley, representatives of Vermont Railway, and a state hazardous materials official. The plan calls for the railroad to build two spurs and bury three storage tanks underground, Gattino said. The project is being undertaken in cooperation with local officials.
Details of a second gas project were not fully disclosed in the account, as the full story is available only in the print edition of the newspaper.
