WHEELOCK, Asa and Amanda Keeley run Kingdom Leather, a small business producing handmade luxury leather goods from their home garage. The couple started the operation in 2019 and handle every step of the process, from cutting to stitching, without the harsh chemicals or poor labor conditions often associated with mass-produced items.
The studio is outfitted with three industrial sewing machines, a strap cutter, and a worktable where customers can visit by appointment. Mr. Keeley originally moved to New England from New York a decade ago and met his wife while working as a farrier at a Connecticut barn where she worked.
The Chronicle reported that the warm smell of leather fills the garage, a sign of the quality they put into each bag and belt.
