Hundreds of residents and visitors gathered in St. Johnsbury on July 4 to observe the nation's 250th birthday. A parade along Main Street was followed by a ceremony and band concert in Courthouse Park.

Among those attending was Mike Stevens, who watched the parade with his children, Elli and Tyler. The family wore festive overalls for the occasion.

The town's event marked the first major celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Local organizers planned the day to include community participation and patriotic music.
