The National Weather Service in Burlington has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northeastern Essex County until 6 p.m. July 14.

At 5:19 p.m., radar indicated a severe thunderstorm 9 miles north of Norton moving southeast at 50 mph. The storm carries 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail, according to the NWS.

Minor hail damage to vehicles is possible, and wind damage to trees and power lines is expected. Locations impacted include Canaan, Averill, Norton, Lemington, Bloomfield, Lewis, Averys Gore, and Beecher Falls.

The NWS advises moving to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building for protection.
