At approximately 11:12 PM, Vermont State Police were dispatched to Brighton State Park on State Park Road in Island Pond following reports of a person possibly having a mental health episode. According to initial reports, a text-to-911 communication indicated that a person, described as a female, was walking in and out of other people's campsites but repeatedly returning to Campsite 21. The caller stated the person is not being assaulted but appears to be experiencing a mental health break. Officers have also requested mental health police assistance to help de-escalate the situation. As of 11:38 PM, dispatchers indicated the individual was believed to be at Campsite 24. Units are on scene and the situation remains ongoing. No physical or voice contact has been made with the individual. Details are limited at this time.
