North Country Hospital has received a Platinum Award from the Health Resources and Services Administration for its work promoting organ, eye, and tissue donation.
The hospital has participated in the Donate Life campaign for several years, educating the community about organ donation and highlighting success stories.
"Here at North Country, the house supervisor team continues to elevate this program with timely organ bank referrals, and this high level of achievement is a result of them stepping up their compliance status over the past three years," said Heidi Hawkins, RN and emergency room leader.
Nationally, nearly 1,700 hospitals participated in the campaign, adding 59,662 donor registrations to state registries, according to HRSA. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, 127 hospitals and transplant centers in the New England Donor Services region received recognition.
