The Northeast Kingdom Council on Aging has appointed Emily Sanderson as its new AmeriCorps Senior Volunteer Coordinator. In this role, she will oversee the recruitment and activity of the agency's volunteer network, which includes more than 320 people across Caledonia, Essex, and Orleans counties.

Sanderson will work from the council's St. Johnsbury office and collaborate closely with state AmeriCorps Senior Program Director Dan Noyes, who is based at the Central Vermont Council on Aging.

A 2011 graduate of Lyndon Institute, Sanderson earned an associate's degree in childhood education from the Community College of Vermont and is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in psychology at Walden University. She previously spent seven years as a preschool teacher at Little Dippers Doodle Children Center, where she planned curriculum and learning objectives. She also worked as an intensive intervention assistant for the Kingdom East Unified School District, providing one-on-one support to students.

Her certifications include Child Development Associate, Reiki Master, Fundamentals in Trauma Informed Practice, and Adoption and Family Engagement. She lives in East Burke, enjoys art, and has two young sons.
