At approximately 3:13 PM on July 17, 2026, the Lancaster Fire Department was dispatched to the Weeks Memorial Library at 128 Main Street in Lancaster for a report of an adult and five children stuck in an elevator. Responders arrived on the scene at 3:15 PM and successfully freed everyone from the elevator by 3:19 PM. No injuries were reported. At approximately 3:27 PM, fire crews cleared the scene. The elevator remains out of service until maintenance can arrive. The cause of the malfunction is under investigation.
